Hey just finished throwing in the mazda trans....i did have a FM145 before

truck is:87 ranger ex. cab, m50d, 1350 manual, 35 front/8.8 rear

Question.....Anyone know what d-shafts will exactly work??? I've been looking for some that had the M5OD or FM146 in a Ranger.....but just wondering if anything else will work., like 1st gen reg. cab long box d-shaft...?(besides the 7.5 flange)

thanks for any help....tryin to do it on the cheap

the fm-146 or auto 1st gen trucks

OF THE SAME TYPE (longbed, crew cab, whatever). All the wheelbase differences are taken up in the rear driveshaft. The front can come from anything with a BW1350 transfer case after 1988 (including Bronco IIs).

Another alternative, FYI, is just to have your existing rear driveshaft shortened. It's really not very expensive.

Yep. A lot of people have the idea that it costs a lot. I was surprised at how cheap it was. I just had my rear shortened and balanced for about $75. The front I had lengthened and balanced (with all new DOM) and that was $150.

yeah i know the rear would be cheap to do, but was just hoping to maybe get a diff. varitey of what would work....gettin a doubler soon, so kinda wanted to wait to get d. shafts made up...thanks a bunch tho!
