Flatbed advice

the only way to recess the toolbox in level with the flat area would be to raise it way up...which sucks when you actually need it because its way up and would look pretty stupid.

you need to find a toolbox like this that is made to sit inside the bed

we pulled it out of one of our work trucks whn we bought it...its for a fullsize

its massive but i couldnt make it work with the way i did the bed. they are a bit harder to find but they pop up here and there.

If I put a 3" bl you think I could at least make to where the top sticks up?

I'm going to be building it to last. and heavy duty. I use it alot to haul things and i need it to last.and farm work is the main reason why i need it.lol

do this one it would look sick and do a wood flat bed in it thats my two cents

Here is a side view of my bed with the tool box centered in between the sides, for an idea of how you can mount one and still have function of the bed.
