fixing 3g alternator

batt lite came on today. advance auto wanted 166.00 for reman alt.I found out what normally goes bad and bought parts for 28.00. easy fix,remove alt remove voltage regulator remove brushes/holder,clean commutator ring contacts,reassemble and reinstall. lite off now charging 15 volts.

15 volts it too high. It's going to juice the battery. Get your battery on a charger, make sure it is fully and properly charged before it burns up your rebuild alternator and then make sure that charging voltage comes back down to no more than 14.5V.

it could be his battery is on the way out or bad/dirty ground cables.
