Fix it and do it yourself. Buy the tools don't forget the cheap pipe bender and the brake lines. They are pretty cheap. You can hit up junkyards for the rear slave and front calipers.

Parking brake? Mine doesn't work. mines never worked. Passed a safety not working LoL at that.

Yes same here. I never thought to check mine to see if it worked prior to the safety. Apparently they forgot to check it too. so. It still doesn't work

DON'T junk it!! Mines got 240000 miles on it. Its the same thing as yours, 97, 2.3, 2WD XLT. These trucks last forever!! You should just buy the parts and fix it yourself. What you don't know you'll learn!

The problems you have are about what I suffer in a day at an ORV park.

The brake hard-lines do take some practice. Mine usually look pretty homemade. I would practice double flairing on a piece of line you haven't already bent up to use. I often end up pinching the nipple off of the tool, which means cutting the end of the line off and getting a new flaring die.

Oh i should mention this since the flare tool was mentioned. If you buy a cheap flaring kit, its possible that the clamping tool will not clamp the pipe tight enough. So when you try to flare it the pipe just slips in the clamp.

Solution. Large pair of vise grips on top of the clamp. Or if you are bending all the pipe on a bench. putting the clamp in the vise works rather well.
