First post, i got a new crate 3.0 and im taking everything off the old motor putting it on the new motor so im at the camshaft positioning synchronize

Here are some pics I took when doing work on my truck in December on my 2001. Not the best photos, was just a self note of where some of the bolts went in case I forgot.

But yes, the two larger bolts are on the passenger side, and a smaller one on the driver side.
Thanks so much, I knew I was close since I had the bolts in the tray labeled timing chain cover. Just couldn't remember.

Yes, I double checked the TDC and it's perfect. The point on the timing chain cover points to 0 on the balancer, the crank sensor is at the letters TDC on the balancer. The sync unit is at 38 degrees with the prong in the middle of the cutout, every thing looks good.

I didnt use an alignment tool, just compensated for the amount it rotates whilst dropping in. As mentioned, the computer just cares about the tab alignment.
