Depends quite a bit on what style you're interested in. Another neat 250cc EFI bike is the Suzuki TU-250. Fairly new though, so you won't find one all that inexpensively just yet. As I mentioned earlier, I spent about a year on a Honda Rebel (250) as well. It was actually a lot of fun. Very light and flickable, makes an easy 70mpg in just about any conditions, and has more than enough power to make a great commuter. It's carbureted, but just a single unit feeding two cylinders so it's incredibly easy to deal with if you do have to pull it off for a cleaning.
