I'm looking for the single tank fuel reservoir found in a few of the first gen rangers. The specific part number is E6TZ-9K044-A.

One of those unobtanium parts. Seem to be more and more of them each day.

Here are some places in Texas that say they have a 2.9 engine. I had a 1986 with a 2.9 and it had that piece you are looking for. Maybe they have the whole truck still sitting in the yard and it would have it still on the frame.

I have the one in my '87 daily driver that I'm removing shortly; Black, plastic, inside the framerail, looks like a diesel fuel/water separator? Throw me some cash & shipping and I can send it next week.

I have one from an 86
If he doesnt get one from either one of yall i might be interested in one for my B2. Someone removed it and just hacked a fuel filter in its place.

That's what I was thinking. A LARGE fuel filter or 2 should have the same effect right?

I have tried to remove them from the salvage yard and they break easily. It is not a fuel filter as I have opened one up before, but a fuel reservoir for the front pump. Do not open one if you do find one. They are no loger available.

I bout a set of pipes that connect the fuel lines together and just bypass the fuel reservoir. As I understand it, buy a fuel pump that has higher pressure then the one in the tank. Ford eventually went away from two pumps to one pump. I think a pump from a 93 Mustang is a one pump and will do the same. It is what I am going to do next time I need a reservoir.

The early versions do have a replaceable filter. If it has finger holds around the bottom... it has a filter inside.

I took all the factory 2 pump fuel system off my 86 Bronco II and pitched it in the garbage. Put a high pressure pump in the tank... added an in line filter on the frame rail... then made new lines. Just like Ford should have built it to begin with.

I did not know some of the earleir had filters. Glad to know that now. Thanks. Even then I would be worried about opening it and one of the tubes breaking. I have already had tha to happen and I did find one in the bone yard. Eventually I am doing what you are doing as if it breaks on the road, really not much of an easy fix. Remove a future problem while you can.

The real give away to the reservoir having a replaceable filter inside is if there is no in line filter in front of the high pressure frame rail pump.

87 and 88 are the ones I am most familiar with. I thought all the fuel injected models had the metal in line filter. I will check that out next time I come across an earleir model. Thanks
