I needed a place to put my ratchet strap when carting 2x4s around and I saw this solution at menards for $10! What comes in the package isn’t long enough to reach through the frame rail.
First step is to tap the bottom of each anchor to 12mmx1.75 down to where the eyelet threads in and stop. It’s about 1-1/4” down. I only gained about 5 threads here due to the taper of the tap.

I used old head bolts from the 2.9l in my truck, being 12x1.75, and added a couple flux core welds no one needs to see to help the pull out strength. Remember to protect the weld with some paint. I cut the head bolts down to about 2-3/4” which gave me plenty of room for the nut and washers inside the frame rail. Total final usable length is about 4”.

I like it. If you haul a lot of stuff with dirt on it or haul dirt and gravel, you might want to find something to cover the hole in the bolts so the don't get plugged up.

Yes! I’ll be getting a couple plastic Christmas tree style covers for the holes when not in use. Meant to include that!
