I can't find a suitable place in the firewall of my Gen4 to run wires for a siren and emergency lights. Can anyone help? Needs to be around 1''.

you may not need to go through the firewall. you could go through the transmission tunnel and through the plate in the top of the tunnel under the carpet.

How would I go about doing this. Do I just pull up the carpet and there is a plate?

i ran my fire dept stuff through the rubber boot around the stearing shaft.
just make sure nothing binds up and brakes a wire..:icon_thumby:

yep, unless you got a manual, then tun it up through that hole. not a big fan of running anything through the steering column.

Another option is the rubber plug that the hood release cable runs through.

I did the same thing (temp sensor for tranny gauge and switch for light realy). I brought the truck in to get a remote starter installed. When I went to pick up the truck the manager gave me a blast of **** for doing it that way. He gave me a bag of wires/connectors/grommets/heat shrink and told me to fix it when I get home.

I ended up using the grommet where the ebrake wires goes through.

I don't know why you guys are so afraid of this....if you need it, drill a hole in the firewall and put a rubber grommet in it to prevent chafing. Use your standard 3/8 inch electric drill. Center punch, and drill a pilot hole. Then expand. Drill bits don't cut in the center, but sheet steel doesn't give them too much trouble, as long as they aren't seriously dull. You can use a hole saw if you need.

Not a big deal. Just make sure you can find an appropriate grommet before you start.
