finding cam specs

hey guys i just got to thinkin, i don't know what my cam specs are, i have no clue how to measure the cam to find duration and lift numbers and the like, any help is appreaciated, i feel as if not knowing my cam speck is threating my manhood.

I can tell you how to measure it yourself if you have a degree wheel and a dial indicator. It's a little tedious but easy if you follow some straight forward instruction.
The service manual has some specs--maybe enough to make you feel like a man again. What motor/year do you have? If it's aftermarket you can get what you need from whomever made it.

well i dont have a degree wheel, and i didnt see any id marks on the cam, i was just wondering if i could measure it using my calipers and dial indicator.

Yes you can measure it with these but you wont find out what you want to know.LOL J/K

Have you any idea who made the cam? You could check their website for info.

Like Will said you need a degree wheel. If worst comes to worst you could borrow one from your local parts house. Most now have a loan a tool program.(at least around here) Good Luck with it.

If the cam is not installed in the motor it's impossible. You need the lifters riding on it and a pointer showing degrees--all at the same time.

In the old days the part number was often inscribed with a vibrating engraving pencil and was often hard to read. Is that aftermarket? What motor?
