Finally Done With My Jump Seat Subs! hope you like!

is that household carpeting? wouldve been slicker with short pile automotive carpeting. and how many layers of fiberglass did you do? other than that it looks pretty nice

ya it is household.. i got it for free from a carpet place that had some leftover.. so i said what the hell.. its not glued down so i should be able to redo it once i get just a lil bit of money to get the right stuff.. =-)

as for the layers.. i did 4 with the fiberglass fabric and then filled it in from under with bondo-glass making it 3/4in thick... i should hope it holds... =-)

lol, that's what i thought too... someday you'll change your mind :D

ya really dont think so... my truck rumbles like crazy as is and there is no way you will ever find some ghetto azz rap goin on in my truck :thefinger:... lol ;-P i like to hear my music not just lose my hearing.. :icon_cheers:

That's a neat idea! And good craftsmanship too, it looks like.

I'm in the same boat as you, I'd love subs, but I'm not going to sacrifice the jump seats to have them.

Just for what it's worth, my idea was to put them behind the jump seats, below the stock speakers, like in the wall type of thing. Granted you probably wouldn't be able to fold the seats up, but it's better than not being able to fold them down!
I might try this someday, but it isn't as big of a priority now that the Ranger won't be my daily driver.

ya the only real reson i didnt go that way was the idea of trying to dinamat all the inside of that hole and trying to get the right air space in there.. but if you can pull it off i love the idea!! make sure to post it up! :icon_cheers:

Not going to beat around the bush here and tell you that it looks good.

1. The amp mounting looks good.

2. The sub boxes are a good idea and design.

3. The carpeting on the boxes look like crap. I say remove it and use automotive carpet. Then make sure that it fits tight around the boxes without all the excess hanging in the rear.

He said he got it for free and he's going to wait until he has some extra cash to redo it with the good stuff, I'd do the same.

thanks koda...

ya the execess is being trimed tonight so that its all flush.. i dont mind + or - feedback but make sure to look into what has been said before commenting.. thanks for the input anyway.. :icon_cheers:

I like it & the thicker carpet gives the subs a good flush look. All you need to do is put grills on them to protect the subs. I agree having a good pair of tens is all you need. I have 2 old school Type R 10's DVC & they sound better then most 12's.

Love, Love, Love the amp placement man.

Frank

thanks =-)

ya i kinda feel like stealing the amp placement thing... but i don't think i will keep this amp forever... and then i am screwed unless i replace the carpet in the rear!

ya that was my only thought... but it shouldnt run all that much to redo it.. just grab a new backing from a pick and pull of somethin. Or just make a fiberglass mold of the stock one and work on that keeping the OG one as it is... =-):icon_thumby:

Nice work!Looks like it should be a factory add on.

it might actually be kinda cool to seperate the back with a dark black carpet or something... so the chrome and stuff sticks out.

could always just carpet the box and the rear wall the same so it all blends together nice.

i might look into that for my set up that i am going to be doing soon... would be a nice custom touch for not alot of money.
