Just curious,

Anyone here have any cars built/modified to go fast? Anyone have anything built to go fast other than in a straight line??

Are we talking purely cars, as in no pickups? How fast we talking :icon_confused:

I've put a good amount of work into turboing my Dakota, it's not a rocket but it puts down some respectable numbers and building power is rewarding. It's really my only "go-fast" type work I've done so far.

A friend of mine has this 76 Celica GT that he swapped a 2.3T into. It runs, but needs some odds and ends wrapped up.

It should be pretty quick when it's done... I forget what all he's done to it, but I know he converted the front to discs with Cherokee rotors and some custom stuff. I think it needs to be lowered a couple inches.

quite a few years ago for my 16th birthday my dad bought me a 89 mustang lx. i got it running and my dad took it for a test drive. turns out it wad a 351w mounted to a t5 and would smoke the tires in 4th he let me drive it once. he sold it before i ever got my drivers license because "your first car cant be faster than anything ive ever owned".

Jim you should be in bed you have a big day tomorrow!
:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

You have no idea. Amongst everything else, I have to take my daughter to the doctor at 9:30am. I was up late last night trying to clarify an issue with domain name servers on the new server.

It's going to be a hell of a day.

Lets see:

'79 F350 supercab 460 W/ 8-71 blower (my first vehicle)

'85 Chevy Sprint W/ 87 turbo 3cyl swapped in

'94 Cobra 5.0l pushing 336HP. I have a 351w roller motor (needs to be bored and stroked to 408) and a pair of Paxton SN92s, rebuilt and waiting for a motor.

the triumph should be kinda fast...if i ever get it finished.

bit by bit.......

gathering parts for a Cobra rebuild on my 99 Continental.

i build motors so i have made lots of other people's toys go fast. Top Alcohol Funny Cars, lots and lots of other dragsters, street cars and enough dirt track cars to make my head spin
here is Chris Fosters Top Alcohol Funny Car we do the engine work on.

And our IMCA late model i build the motor for and live with all summer

My '88 T-bird Sport Coupe will be "quick" and handle. Should be done next month.

The fast car in my family is my dad's 2008 BMW 3 series. I forget if its a 325i or 335i. But he put a Dinan racing upgrade on it (improved intercooler, disabled the speed limiter, etc). that car is quick and nimble. I think the fastest I've been in it has been about 140mph. I think after the chip it has around 400hp and 430ft/lb of torque. The only thing I don't like about it is that its not a manual. it does have those floppy paddle things, but i'd still prefer a stick.

minimal suspension and brake mods. 91 Taurus SHO, plus 2 project SHOs. Well suited for spirited crusing on a long twisty road. There's something about shifting an old Taurus into 4th at 105 mph knowing that 5th is ready and waiting that brings on a big 'ol smile. You don't want to know about the rumors attributed to a certain stretch of the Turnpike in Sandusky county.

I had a 69 GT Torino when I was in high school Jim. Short throw 3spd, factory posi, HT 390. We broke the 140mph speedo in it once (sheared the pin off the back and made it look like a fan).
