Hey all, so I got my 93 ranger 5spd back on the road after it sat for last 5 years due to overheating issue and no time with new job back then. Finally have the time to work on it and got it running and driving. I replaced all the hoses, belt, thermostat and housing, waterpump, and radiator and a new fan. It has been running amazing with no overheating for last month but I am wanting to put a fan shroud back in and the one I got from the junkyard 93 4.0 ranger does not fit. Looking at it the fan is to close to the radiator by a inch and would hit the shroud. Just looking at the waterpump compared to the old waterpump it look to be a longer snout from what I can see. Does anyone know of a shorter shroud for the 93 4.0?
Also open to go electric if its worth it but worried about the heat here in Florida.

Did they give you the wrong waterpump?

I would stick with the mechanical fan as long as you could. There are a lot of newer cars running around with electric fans and they work fine. But it will take a serious fan that pulls a lot of power from the alternator. Not a cheapo electric fan you get from the local parts stores (been there, done that). Best place to get a electric fan is the junkyard and then cross your fingers your alternator is big enough to run it, and the A/C, and the blower on high, and the headlights on, and the wipers on those sticky rainy nights in florida.

I was wondering if it was the wrong one honestly. Not to worried about electrical load all the lights are led and AC doesn't work LOL I may do the Taurus 2 spd fan on it if I can still find one.

That's what I have on my 2.9. I just use high speed and I can watch the aftermarket temp gauge start dropping as soon as it comes on. But I did have to do a little re-wiring and am running a 100 amp GM alternator.
