factory radio problem

ok i posted this two weeks ago in misc electrical and still havent resolved the problem, maybe it will get more views here. i got a 1995 Ford Ranger XLT with the stock radio/cassette player. i was checking fuses with the radio on (mistake!) and took the radio fuse out. radio turned off. replaced the fuse, which was fine, but radio does not work. clock works, lights work, tape deck ejects cassette but i get nothing on the display and no sound. whats up? i would just replace it but the truck was free (really nice, really clean) and i am strapped for cash. is there a fix for this?

You will need to pull the radio. In the back there will be two plugs, the one closer to the center of the radio is the one we want.

With the ignition on, using a test light or volt meter,

The wire in position 1 should have 12 volts on it and the one in position 3 should have 12 volts on it (We count by position, position 2 may or may not have a wire in it). If we have voltage on both wires make sure we have no voltage on position 6.

Because the clock is working we can assume that we have voltage on position 1. (don't assume test anyway and confirm that this is true)

If we have voltage on position 3 and no voltage on position 6, then the radio has a problem.

unfortunately, all my volt meters have mysteriously broken, so i will have to pick up a new one to get to the bottom of this. thanks for the reply.
