factory headers

My 94 has the stock style pipe manifold still. If you guys want, I could snap a pic after my study group tomorrow afternoon.

Mark 88 I trying on doing the same thing you put a bolt on bung? where did you find this?

No, I'm pretty sure he means he just put a bolt in it to seal it up... You usually have to weld on a Oxygen Sensor Bung...

That's correct...one was big enough to take a bolt and I'm not sure exactly what was there originally...but the bolt was just to seal off the hole so it wouldn't make that "tick tick tick" noise that you get...

Does anyone know the size of the collector pipe on this factory header. The pipes themselves look like they would flow better that my cast iron manifolds.

I'm just trying to decide if they will flow any better overall?

I found one on e bay that come off a 95 that has both the egr and o2 bung? but I could have swarn it was the 93-94 that had them. Oh well at least I know there out there

i pluged a washer and welded the egr port shut on my header.i used the firs 12" of the down pipe from the 95 truck because it had a o2 bung on it and the header did not.

if it came off a 95,it only has the egr nipple on it,if not it is from a 93-94.The factory tube header flows about 9% better according to Ford.Best part is that it weighs about 20 lbs lighter. If you cut off the bell on the end and build a new downpipe that has the same style flange, you can go from a 2 inch to a 2 1/2 pipe with no restriction. We have done several of these for guys that run on the street and still retain the egr and o2.We have also cut the pipe off at the collector above the egr and welded on a new 3 inch pipe down. This works well on a race car that spends it time above 6000.I'll get some pics of each one

Mine bolted right up to the original downpipe without any problems...but there was a definite difference between the header and the downpipe...

I have been planning to get a wider exhaust system from the header back, but time and money constraints have curtailed any action towards this...I almost bought a cat from a 93 B2300 to match up with it but backed off when they told me how much it cost...figured I would just go back and get the one from the junkyard but can't remember why that didn't happen...

I really like this idea, but I don't understand how you can shave the bell off the end of the header and create a downpipe that will fit. (And not create an exhaust leak.)

But my truck is a daily driver, and I need low end torque as much as horsepower. Maybe I should leave it alone and be happy with the 9% increase in flow?

The last yard I went to has a sign that says they won't even sell cats, lol. I'm not worried because you can get a high flow Magnaflow performance cats on ebay for under $80.
