I like the application of leaf springs to help push the bodies under the truck without messing up the bumper or banging up the diff.

Sure would like to find one of those Warn winch bumper 85Ranger4x4, every time i go to the bone yard they have taken all the aftermarket goodies off it seems.

If ya, sneak up on two of them let me know. :icon_thumby:

I am currently scheming on how make one inspired by the Ford/Warn ones.

Can't get any bites on flea bay either. Wont a winch in worst way, sure would come in handy. Guess ill take the front bumper off and weld up a receiver behind. Seen some already fabricated on the web but not for a 1987 ranger.

Cradles for a receiver are cheap.

I snagged one of these to build my grille guard off of.

I got a warn winch and mount plate as a labor barter from an 04 f150. Made my own bumper to mount. Crude but works well. Still needs some finish work.

Thats nice work, very functional. Is that 4X2 inch tube steel tw205. Cant see the side well. Looks very interesting. Did you weld or use the OEM bumper bolts to the frame. Dirty

Thanks. Yes it’s 4” x 2” steel tube 3/8 thick. It’s a heavy beast. I made brackets from 1/4 steel plate welded to the 4x2 that mount to the frame using 4 existing holes on each side of the frame. 3 on the vertical face and one on the bottom side. Attached with 1/2” grade 8 bolts. It’s currently off the truck as I’m trying to fabricate a brush guard onto it. I have to use my cherry picker to put it on.

I would say around 185+ with winch. Measure the shock and spring height before you reinstall it. I would like to know the travel distance. Dirty

Called harbor freight and they have the one Ranger4x4 found. Going to look at it tomorrow. Looks like i can snake it behind the bumper and use a slot in the bumper for the fair lead. Dirty

I looked into that, I just don't have the room there in my truck.

My AC cooler has been taken out and I have the 2.9 turd not a 5.0. That's why I ask tw205 to measure the deflection in the springs and shocks. He has a 2.8 I believe. Has to be geared right its running 33's. I'm pretty educated block and tackle to strengthening the pull rate, "aint nuthin but lift verus drag" right. I wont be pulling on anything large and i wont to place one on the rear to. Dirty

3" body lift, factory 4.0 rad on factory mounts and my 5.0 sits higher than the 2.8 did. 🤷‍♂️
