F150 coil swap

do you have somthing loaded in the back of the truck in the second pic? it looks like it sits lower in the back. I like the way that truck looks, looks just like mine but mine isnt extended cab, and has orginal grey fender flares

2WD F150,Or 4WD?

depending on how your truck left the factory, you may need new camber bushings to get your camber under control.

also note that guys that have done this swap claim the ride is VERY stiff.

and yes the 2" block in back is stock.
2WD or 4?
As Im doing the same thing as we speak,I put stock XJ spings cause they were longer. But waaayyyy too soft.lol.
Thanks

I have a yard of 3/4" crush gravel in there, weighed in at 1980lbs, but I have 2 full length AAL's that are thicker then the main leaves so it supports it pretty well.

I used 2wd coils in mine.

Something like that, I'd stick to the ttb style because the 79' SAS springs have a larger bottom coil wrap. You can use any 2wd or 4wd coil, just assume the bigger the truck the stiffer the coil rate. Mine was an 2wd ex cab long box 351w truck, and they gave me 3.5" lift without using the lift brackets.

For shocks I first flexed my truck out and took measurements, then went to a Napa and they let me dig through some boxes of shocks until I found the right lengths. Ended up being from some type of F-150 and ran $15 each new.

Put it back together too day with 1976 F100 springs, Worked much better than the XJ coils,Very little triming needed for the 33's:icon_bounceblue:

ive got that f150 coil spacers that im wanting to put in mine. is it safe to just undo the shocks and swaybar and let the axle drop until the coil isnt undercompression any more. ive always been under the assumption that they will come shooting out from under the truck. wanting to start this today so asap answers are greatly appreciated.

Yup, that'll work just fine. They're bolted to the axle anyways, so even if they pop out a bit, they're not going anywhere. Thats what I've always done.

you wouldn't know what size the bolt is?i need longer bolts to finish f-150 coil spring spacer install correctly.ace did not have the bolts i needed, too short.came up half an inch short.needless to say with quarter inch of thread grabbing, truck is parked.

sorry, can't help ya there. I made my spacers so the inner part actually sat below where the spacer sat.

thanks,i'll go out and grab a nut and have them order a couple.sure like the way it looks with 2 inch lift in front, have lift blocks for rear and just waiting for leaf spring bushings to get here.do it all at once.

i had to remove brake calipers and lay them aside, had to push down slightly to get springs out.came up short on the bolt.how did you make out?

didnt get around to it with everything else that i was doing to the truck, but ill post some info/pics when i do get it done.
