F-150 Axle Help

The locker makes noise when you are ONLY turning.

You will be hard pressed to find a lunch box locker that replaces the limited slip diff in the axle in the F-150. To get a lunch box locker, you will have to get an open diff and install it in it.QUOTE]

Not true, powertrax makes the no slip for the l/s 8.8 carrier

for a 31 spline?

I still would want to replace the whole carrier with a Detroit.

if he looking at cost, go lockrite, either one, if he wants dependability get a Detroit

LOL!!, I just asked dad how much he think they were, guess his response..............

$50!!!!!!! LOL, i almost pissed!,

For $50 tell him to weld the diff and NEVER drive the truck on the road because it will eat the tires.

My dad got a 03 F-150, he dont know what the axle is, cause he was thinkin about gettin a 4wd, but i mentioned a locker, or do you think hes better off with a extreme traction system.....what do you say hes got?

edit: the code on the door is 19?

A 2003 F-150 with a 4.2 or 4.6 will have a 31 spline 8.8, run of the mill 5.4 trucks got a 9.75, and F-150 7700 trucks got a 10.25 with 7 lug wheels.

The bolt pattern for the rims was a metric measurement (5x135), not the 5x5.5 standby of yesteryear. If you do get different rims you may also need to get different lug nuts, the stock rims center off of the hub and the nuts have a flat surface to hold the wheel on rather than conical.

Here is what I want to get for mine someday. I only wheel it during deer hunting, mainly just want to get rid of the one wheel peels in traffic and getting around in snow. I have no need for a locker and any of its quirks.

Stuff is stupid common for the 8.8, the guts are the same as the Explorer, just one of the perks of dealing with the best selling vehicle on the planet.
