extreme shaking need help

I have a 96 b2300 and It just randomly started shaking when I reach 35 mph. The truck has an insane vibration when I drive. Im not sure what it is but there is a thick metal circle thing around my driveshaft moving around. I am a complete amature when it comes to anything mechaninc so any help would be greatly appreciated.

2 wheel drive truck? If so you need the yoke that goes into the transmission. You can still get the new from Ford. Don't do the junkyard way as you may end up with the same problem. Also don't drive it to much more, could damage the transmission.

do you know how much that would cost? yes it is 2wd and I parked it in my driveway right away Im not driving it.

Probably ought to have a close look at the u-joints, make sure it's on flat level ground, and the driveline is unloaded. Do this by setting the E-brake and shifting the trans into neutral. Now check to see if the ujoints have slop.

Then take a picture of this round metal "thing" and post it up for better identification.

The part number fromo Ford is F57Z-4841-BA, it is $92.45. I also agree with Loanranger on replacing the U-Joint but do both. You will have the whole shaft out reguardless. Do take pictures and submit it for the tech library.

I have pictures of it. What would happen if i drove on it tonight? I find that it shakes alot more when im slowing down from 40 to 30.

That's got to be the funniest thing I've seen since the mattress. Definately fix it before driving it, at the very least, drop the driveshaft and pull that thing off of there. It's basically hula-hooping on your driveshaft.
