Extra cat

Will an extra cat effect your horsepower or mpg?

Uhh it shouldn't, at least nothing more than a negligible amount anyway. Just curous though, why would you want to?

I didn't do this Ford put a new exhuast system on and came back with an extra cat. They can't explain why it has five cats instead of four like the spec calls for. So, I'm trying to figure it out myself since they are no help and they don't want to replace it back. I'm just wondering where I should go from here.
