Bought a 1 tb toshiba "portable" from walmart. niether my xbox 360 nor my dads dvd player will show it. when i plug it into the xbox it will flash some words but t sont show up.

Returned it got a 500 gig wd my passport. same thing. i reformatted it with fat 32 and ntfs no deals. I currently have a exterbak wd 320 gb hooked to my xbox that works fine. idk if im buying the wrong kind of external or what.

Also these 2 drives havent had a power cord just a usb cable. idk if that matters or not.

Both worked in the computer as I understand it?

Have you formatted them with the xbox?

Yes they both work on the conputer. and im not going to be using it on the xbox so i havent formatted it using it. but good point ill try that.

You can only use 16GB if you want to format it as a storage space for the Xbox, 16GB per USB slot (so you could run 32GB if need be) and hard drives can be used, it's just Microsoft recommends Flash drives as they're faster.
