ok so im cheap and thinking about going with a flowmaster 40 or 44 with a 2in single in and 2.5in dual out with two turndowns right after the muffer

first off, split dual exhaust only adds to the complexity, cost, and weight of the system. it will still sound and perform like single exhaust.

secondly, if your going to dump it right after the muffler, under the truck...why get a dual out muffler anyway? or did you mean dump it right in front of the right rear wheel?

thirdly, if you DID mean dump it right under the truck...dont. it will resonate and sound horrible at highway speeds. the exhaust gasses will speed corrosion of steel components under the truck, and you increase the risk of poisoning yourself to death.

well its a $900 91 ranger not to worried about all that corrosion and myself not too worried lol

Do it. i dare you! i got the 40 series single 2.25 in and out. used an 2" i.d. 2.25" o.d adapter to hook it up to the pipe. sounds deep and its dumped with a Inlet Flange Adapter i cut shorter so its blowing strait down to the ground. the trucks like about 20 yrs old anyway who cares about corrosion

weld a hanger to support the weight of the muffler.. or rig something it keep it from falling off if your just using clamps

thats right its a dd and offroad truck not a show truck so who cares lol

rust doesnt just effect the looks of the truck....youve obviously never seen a ford curior rust litterally in half before. just because its only a $900 truck doesnt mean you cant make it last...if nothing else, the longer it lasts, the longer you can put off spending another $900 on another truck.

and there again, dumping the exhaust under the vehicle sounds like ass.

My dad has had the exhaust dumped under his service trucks for 15 years... no major rust issues that you can pin on it. Otherwise the exhaust just gets ripped off...

It doesn't sound the greatest, but I wouldn't expect your truck to rust in half in the near future just because of the exhaust.

Ford Curiour's, Chevy LUV's, and early Toyota's don't have scary rust because of exhaust issues, they rust because they were cheaply made and just like to rust out.

i wasnt blaming the curiour's rust on the exhuast...i was just pointing out that rust is more than a cosmetic issue.

and exhuast gasses cause corrosion, its a simple fact (check your chemistry books). if your dad never had a problem then hes been lucky.

i stand by my reasoning...but i guess its ultimately up to the original poster.

dude dont do it, i had 2 40's series mufflers dumped right under my truck n it sucked ass. get pipes bent out the back behing the tires. sounds sick now!
