Exhaust gasket

Can anyone tell me which way (or if it matters) the gasket goes which goes inbetween the cat and intermediate pipe. On one side of it is a raised circle larger than either pipe on the flange. I remember this being discussed on the old forum, but don't remember the answer.

Pretty much any parts store has it. I kept blowing it out all the time. Ended up the flange was bent and I just replaced the flange and a new gasket. No problems til I blew the engine.
