Brief Explanation:
I have done this because my truck kept throwing up codes ,saying the evap canister is bad and need to get replaced... I don't see paying $50.00 buck for a plastic box full of charcoal and this rebuild cost me barely $20.00 which is a good saving of $30.00 buck plus tax

Tools Needed / parts needed:
-socket wrech w/ sockets
-glue for plastic (i use arrow glue and all purpose glue from home depot)
-hack saw
-small screwdriver
-pliers
-fish tank charcoal
-vise or something to hold the cansiter
-brake clean

Steps:
1.Take all the hose off the Evap cansiter and unbolt it from the bracket and remove it from the truck..
2. Put the cansiter in a vise upside down and tighing it( Don't tighting the vise to much that you crush and distroy it)
3.Take the hack saw and cut right below the lip on the bottom and stay as close as possible and keep cutting till the bottom is off..
4.Set the the bottom to the side and now take the screw driver and pliers and pry the clip off the rod and pull the screen off and set it to the side .. Take the cansiter and dump the out the old charcoal..
5. Reach inside and pull the 2 green foam filter out and clean them with brake clean and the reinstall them..
6.Pour the new charcoal in the cansiter till about the same level as it was before..
7.Reinstall screen and then the clip
8.Glue the bottom back on the canister and i held it togther with duck tape
9.When dry reinstall in bracket and connect hose in the right manner

I'd be willing to bet that this is going to be handy for those that have to keep/maintain emission compliancy. Good thinking.

Is this for the evap canister that is mounted under the bed in front of the spare tire?
