has anyone ever used a esslinger star pully and if so after setting at 0 degrees for intiall cam timing did advancing cam timing help any? i have a 91 block bored .030 over with flat top pistons with a d port 4 plug hesd, this was a flat tappet cam head but i put a hyd roller cam in it. any advice on what plugs seem to work better would help too using motorcraft 44c's as called for by ford but open to advise. OHH BY THE WAY this is my frist 2.3 to rebuild so far so good just not totally up on all the 2.3 tricks for timing etc. and by the way fuel injected with dist. not coil fire.

i guess that nobody has ever used this cam gear i see lots of hits on some threads but wow nobody here guess there are no real proformance people who are members. kind of disappointed i thought there was suppose to be some performance folks here

The adjustable cam gear will only move your power band. It won't create or loose power. I've debated on getting one for years. I just seem to always find better things to spend my money on right now.

I use plain jane stock replacement plugs in my truck. Nothing special, I would rather pull the plugs every year and see how things are going any way.

Agree, all a cam gear does is move your band around but it does make it better for your type of driving. We use our at 5800 rpms because we usually don't run under 4600 but we use the stock EFI with redtops injectors and DIS.A couple of the guys set theres so it will run at 73-7400 but we can't get there with with DIS

ok thanks guys i'm glad to see a couple of wrench turners here. guess i will try a few degrees advance since that is where most of the power will be used anyway pulling a trailer around town i was looking at the cover last nite and thought it would be really easy to cut it so that access would be easy. i have gone thru a learning process here on the 2.3 never thought i wanted to know so much about the little 4 banger but even old dogs learn new tricks. thanks a gain for the replys to my post.
