Working on a friend's ranger and we can't get the motor to turn over. It was supposed to have been started within the last two years and stored inside with no weather exposure. We've verified that the starter is good and bypassed all of the wiring directly hooking it up. Power, ground, and power to the signal wire. How can we turn this motor over by hand? I've tried a breaker bar with socket on the end of the crank but no luck. None of the accesories are bound up and the belt has been removed. It's an auto so we can't just put it in gear and tow it.

Ps all was done with truck in park and plugs out of the motor.

Sounds as if the rings have rusted to the cylinder walls. Try a 50/50 mix of atf and acetone and pour it in the cylinders and let it sit for a day or so. Then give it a try. It may be toast.:)shady

Will try it. With the plugs out I should be able to grab the crank pulley and turn this motor over or just pull the belt right?
