Engine swap

I'm baffled !!! Afew years ago I put an early 302 into my 83 2wd ranger and it worked out well. Recently I swaped it with a 5.0 efi out of an 86 Merc Marquis,put my intake and carb on it and cannot get it to fire on all 8 cyl's.Is there something different with the heads or what? Any ideas?

Might have a HO cam in it 'different firing order'

There are two different firing orders used on 302's.

I would guess you have you spark wires pluged in for the wrong firing order

BTW, the way I remember the 351w/302HO firing order is think of it as a chevrolet. Odd numbers down the drivers side cyl bank even numbers down the passenger side 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

THAT is too ingrained into memory to EVER forget,
