Engine swap

I am a new guy on the block. Hang my hat in Montana. I recently swapped out a engine in my 1988 2.9 liter ford ranger. I relaced it with a 2.9 out of a 1989 ford ranger. My question is, that my 88 has two fuel pumps a low pressure and a high pressure. The 1989 has only one, a high pressure fuel pump located in the fuel tank. Do I need to eliminate the two fuel pumps and go with just one in the tank or can I leave it status-quo and not have a fuel problem? Thanks, Jim

The motor is a direct bolt in. You do not HAVE to do anything with the pumps. Although, If the tank/pump/filler hose from the '89 is in good shape, you can eliminate 1 pump and increase the dependability of you Ranger with some minor mods.
The gas tank mounts are slightly different, It is an easy mod.
You can buy a line at any parts store that will replace the high pressure pump on the frame.
