im looking to do an engine swap on my b2. i have the 2.8 but am wondering how well the 4.0, or even a 351 with full size axles would work. not worried about the mounting or anything on the v8, and i know the 4.0 will bolt in, but which is better all around?

engine swap

I'd say the 4.0 will be a little harder for you since you have a carb motor... I'd go with a carb 351, it's a little harder to squeeze in, but it's a really great motor...

but how hard would it be for me just to swap the motor, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, dash ect? I would rather not have to tube in my front end to make room for everything. ive cut the hell out of my bronco so far, i moved the wheel wells up, and what not, but im getting tired of cutting and re welding. heh.

ive put a 4.0 in my 2.8 truck piece of cake! the 302 is a little harder i think..

I have a 88 B2 with the EFI 2.9 with the auto a4ld trans and I was also wondering about the 4.0 will it bolt right up to trans? Wiring? What year motor will work? Anything else...

You shouldn't have to do any cutting... I just said I'd do a carbed v8 because you have a carbed engine in it now... You can do whatever you want, if you really want to do a 4.0 it won't be that hard... You will have to swap all the wiring over though...

I just did a frame swap and put a 351m/400 in my bII and you can tell just a little differance from the 2.8 and 351m
