Sorry if this has been beaten to death elsewhere, but I really don't have time to search. :icon_twisted: Will a complete 94 engine bolt into a 96 truck and be compatable with the 96 PCM ?? I found a good used engine cheap, but the guy isn't sure if it's a 95 or 94. I know to check for the "T" or "U" on the cylinder head, but wanted to make sure if it is a 94 it would work. Thanks

Might be able to get away with it if you can attach all the OBD-II sensors to the engine. I'm doing the opposite ('96 to '94) and one thing I can say for sure is the heads and pistons are different from 94 to 96, but since you aren't changing those, I don't see a problem.

you need to take your complete intake manifold from the 96 and put it on the 94. Let me ask you this, What type of plenum is on the motor you want? Plastic or metal. that's the easiest way to depict a 94 and below, and 95 and up 4.0.

Just swap out the motor only..

Use the OBDII's intake manifold, sensors, wiring, exhaust, accessories etc.

Ok, thanks for the help. I have not went to look at the motor, it is an older guy and he can't rember if it's a 94 or 96 (he totaled the truck a year ago) so I just thought I'd double check here in case I go to pick it up and it's the 94. I didn't think it would matter swapping the motor only. Thanks again.
