Engine swap help

Got an early 90s explorer v8 with a carb and looking to replace my 2.3 with it. Been reading and there is lots of info on it but I can’t decide bout a transmission. I would like to keep it a manual. Any advice would be helpful. Trying to gather parts and materials so I can reduce my down time.
