Hi, I have been off this forum for a while since i completed my conversion to a Ford motor sports 345 hp 302 with an ADOE trans. Truck has run well for a couple of years , but now has me stumped .. Will just stop running while going down the street after getting up to temp.. Will NOT restart even with starting fluid until cools down for an hour or so. It is fuelly set up as 93 Mustang, because that is the last year that the computer didn't talk to the trans.. Changed out , temp switch, coil, cap ,rotor, checked for fuel when no start has fuel and spark?? Help.. Thanx in advance Jim c. 520-2227-2751

The only thing i can think of would be the electronic ignition module, but you said it was getting spark. Just for the hell of it next time it dies pour cold water on the module then try to start it.

Yes, probably the distributor/hall effect module/TFI... Doesn't explain the getting warm and quitting, but certainly the fuel and spark. You can test that stuff. Search www.sbftech.com

Have you give it a good tune up lately cap, rotor, wires, plugs. PCV. I always start with basic PM to eliminate the variables the first step in troubleshooting is tune up and thorough inspection of all the wires and connectors. any dirty connectors should be cleaned with electrical cleaner and put some dielectric on it when you put it together. I am voting for TFI module also the hall effect coil is usually no start or run rough. The TFI wil run till it gets hot then crap out. The cap and rotor or wires can do some wierd stuff also. Try cranking it when it is dark out to see if you see any arcing when it dont start.

When it dont start put a plug in the coil wire and set it on a good ground if you get a nice steady blue spark then check the cap and rotor. if your getting spark at the plugs it is fuel related.

Now that I've had a little sleep... try checking the codes, see what it says.

Are you 100% certain the "operating" temperature is correct ? And not overheated ?

You say that it is getting spark and fuel and my question is how did you check for fuel? Did you just push the schrader valve on the fuel line or what? I would get a noid light and test for injector pulse to verifiy that the injectors are squrting fuel into the heads. Your TFI module could be bad and still be getting spark but not sending a signal to the computer to fire the injectors. Some auto parts stores have a way of testing you TFI module.

Yeah, thanx, did all that. Have fuel pressure guage mounted on fuel rail. Etc. Begining to think fuel pump, cause pressure goes to Zero on shut-off, and looked closely at guage while running.. 25-40 lbs, all over the place should be 45lbs. Thanx for all the input. Jim C
