smokie the parked ranger
10mm it is... is everything on the 2.9 metric?... I'd like to take a minute and say thank you to everyone... I was only 10 when I saw a 454 chevy engine get rebuilt.. and theres a lot of help I'm hearing...
Today I didnt get much done, I removed valve cover, rockers and rods, I confirmed metal in the oil(only appears in the oil lingering around the rods for #4), valves seemed a little to loose... I don't have a feeler gauge yet.. and didnt move the pistons to toc to check... I was going to take the exhaust manifold off the head but i think its metric? Im lacking on metric tools... I didnt think ford or any other american car would use them... maybe this from the roots of mazda and ford working together on the ranger..
Possible warning on seafoam... considering this truck has 130,000 miles on it.. when I used seafoam in the oil a few months ago per directions... it may have loosened to much sludge at once... I saw under the valve cover where old oil build up might have flaked off into the oil.. Id assume it wasnt the best idea for a older engine... maybe it would be a different story if used before every oil change from the beginning back when it rolled of the lot...
well I still have more to remove but any thoughts on the
exhaust manifold connection to the head is its metric?
