Engine idles rough after going through mud

Hey guys. I went through a mud puddle and the engine started running rough. I figured some water got somewhere so I went home and let it run for a while to see if i can get the water to evaporate. Well it never started idling right so my question is is there any particular items that are more ceceptable to water than others? What should be the first thing that i should check. Thanks for the help. Ken

Check your spark plug wires. Water on old wires can cause a rough or no idle
