Hey guys I know it's been answered 98 5.0 in 96 ranger I used ricks ranger motor mount kit on upper holes on the cross member but seems motor needs to drop a little more do u use upper or lower holes on the cross member and did y'all use ur stock location on transmission cross member

I don't have experience with those mounts. But I do have advice.

"Do what you need to do to make your build work right." Very few builds are identical. When you dive into the world of custom modifications, you must accept the idea that even if you're following someone else's plan, there can still be differences that you need to work out.

I'm putting a 96 5.0l into a 93 Ranger. On the surface, it may sound like we're doing the same thing. Both are 3rd gen Rangers receiving 5.0ls. But I assure you we're NOT doing the same thing. I'm using Fox Body Mustang engine mounts. We're probably using different transmissions and transfer cases, which may change component locations. I expect that I will need to build a new transmission crossmember and move it an inch or 2. And your 96 Ranger has totally different wiring. Electrically, your swap is easier.

It would be great if someone doing your exact swap would chime in and answer all your questions. But that will likely take extra time and patience. You very likely know the answer you're looking for. Go ahead and do it. And if you feel generous, document your solution here to help others in the future. One other thing you may want to consider us a body lift. Getting the cab 1 or 2 inches higher can change a lot of things.

Also;

If I use the rubber mounts it seems motor is high but ricks ranger said that's right but to me motor needs to set lower as lower it looks good I'll try get a picture

If you want it lower, go ahead and lower it. That will drop your center of gravity a tiny bit and you'll have slightly less driveline angles. But think it through thoroughly. What else will change? What about clearance between the front axle and oil pan? You may have to modify your fan shroud because the fan will be lower. Study the whole thing.
