Engine Cover

I didn't see an engine in any of the pictures!

Car&Driver Magazine says "Only the Top-of-the-line Lariat version comes with a noise-quelling engine cover" . They have an Orange XLT without an engine cover for test drives and pics.

It's extra weight. Discard it and increase your top speed, fuel efficiency and payload capacity. My 88 F150 had a plastic cover over the throttle linkage. I eventually threw that away. Never noticed a change in sound.

that was a dust cover, not a "sound queller":icon_twisted:

Actually, it was supposed to keep things from getting stuck in the throttle linkage. Every car with a cable-operated throttle and EFI has had something of the sort when new.

On carbs the air cleaner usually kept stuff out of the parts that could get jammed up. And then there were the cars that didn't get driven all winter and had the whole intake packed with string and grass come summer.

I miss the big, stamped, upper intake pleniums myself.

....oh and round metal air cleaners

Things like... Dust and debris, thanks for re-wording my reply.

One local landscape company has had more than one of their 3/4 ton Chevies snap in half. At least one of them someone attempted to repair with duct tape.o_O
