Engine block's ground strap

I noticed a couple of days ago that the ground strap of my engine was not attached to the body. I fixed it. Now the water temperature rises higher while driving. Like described in my other thread I have probs with the ignition.

My question is: What parts could be affected when driving without ground strap on the engine block?

everything connected to the engine depending on the grounding on the rest of the frame. what do you mean higher water temp like more than what it should be or back to normal??

Higher meaning between middle and minimum of normal. Before it was just above the minimum limit of the normal range. Outside temperature have not changed that much.

What electrical component could be fried if the engine runs rough as soon as I've been driving more than 10 miles? As the water temp is going higher than before I don't think it's some temp issue inside the engine block. Going faster helps delaying the problem as the wind cools down the failing part.

The gauge on your dash does NOT TELL you one damn thing! ANywhere in the NORMAL range is where the temperature puts the needle when the engine is at it's normal 205*.. If the needle moves a bit back and forth that is considered NORMAL.. As long as the coolant system is FULL of coolant and it stays in there you are NORMAL..
Only worry if the system purges itself and pukes out on the pavement.

Now for the ground strap: YES you need all the continuity in the electric system you can get. Sometimes I even ADD a strap to make sure. If things changed when you connected that strap then they changed for the BEST! Leave it attached.
