I have a 1987 ranger with the 4cyl 5 speed is there anyother engine that will bolt to this tranny

A turbo engine out of a T'bird Turbo coupe or an SVO or an XR4Ti or an XR-7. There's lots of information about this swap.

Hmmmm...didn't know they had an XR-7 Turbo...haven't seen too many of those around...actually, I've only seen an XR4Ti in the yard...they're scarce...finding one usually means you're going to pay a high price for it...in Canada anyways...

I was thinking about having the short block rebuilt and putting in forged pistons so it could be turbo'd...but then there is always the head...

Can they rebuild a stock head to work like the Turbo heads?

It's probably a better option to use what you have and have it modified than trying to find one for sale...considering they are rapidly disappearing in the JYs...

It's too bad we're so far apart. I've got 2 complete engines sitting in my garage.

so in other words the bellhousing can't be changed and bolt a V-8 to my tranny. I guess I'm just going to put my T-bird Super Coupe engine and tranny in my ranger.

Bolting a V8 to a Mitsubishi tranny would be an exercise in futility. It might be physically possible but the tranny wouldn't live through the first full throttle hole shot.
