Elon musk.....

People thought Nikola Tesla was a nut job, and then Elon Musk names his EV venture TESLA.

People also thought Henry Ford was a nutjob, but he revolutionized automobile manufacturing...
Maybe someday Tesla will learn something about manufacturing too.

Henry Ford simply applied manufacturing principles that already existed to building automobiles. He did not change the way the automobile worked. Apples to oranges, IMO.

No, Ford didn't. Neither did Musk. I guess it lacked "autopilot" and firmware downloads.....

Whatever Ford did, ( revolutionized the way all things were built with the assembly line) he did it with help from a Frenchman named Chevrolet, and the Dodge Brothers.

Actually it had been used in things like gunmaking a long time before it was applied to automobiles.

And yeah, Henry had a few false starts before he got FoMoCo up and running.

The more interesting things Ford did were his attempts to create a real "cottage Industry" - producing fuel and parts from hemp, building low-head hydro plants distributed around the countryside to allow production of parts as a supplement to farming, etc. He had some cool ideas.

Not sure he ever tried a tent though....

I don't think anyone grasped what I said about towing 300k is great and all but can you stop 300k at 60-70 mph in a timely manner? I doubt it. you will need a few football fields to stop that kind of weight. So to me it seems like Musk is wanting to make his own semi to be able to move his own rocket. Must have been running low on ego lol. I do like the points made by an actual trucker on the real life issues the truck would face. There is indeed no where to service or maintain a truck like that except from where it came from which lacks a lot of credibility to trucking companies that need reliability and full service across the nation.

I'm not sure anyone was confused about that, 91stranger. It just comes across as an advertising boast not unlike Ford/Chevrolet/Dodge using their trucks to pull ridiculous loads in commercials that are far beyond rated capacity. It's not as if Musk was claiming that would be an approved tow rating, and they've done weird demonstrations with Tesla products in the past like pulling a 787 (somewhere around 280k pounds).

Henry ford was a nazi who used slave labor... even elon musk ranks higher on the list of decent human beings than ford.

He certainly was anti-semitic, but it's a stretch to call him a Nazi. Yes to some use of slave labor during the war by the German branch of the company, but I don't know how involved Ford himself was at that point given his age and health and how disconnected the German side of things was by then.

He was literally a supporter of the nazi party... here he is literally being given a nazi medal covered in swastikas...

Right - like I said, he had a strong history of anti semitism. Hitler was a fan of Ford and gave him the award you posted a picture of above. That's not the same as actually endorsing or joining the Nazi party. Both Ford and GM have a dark history of involvement on both sides of the war effort. They used the need for equipment as a way to build their businesses. Thankfully, Ford's grandson put a lot of effort into separating the company from that past.

It took 8 pages, but Godwin's law holds true

That's strange, we usually stay very focused and right on track... Our discussions never go off topic around here.
