Electricians!: Need help on re-wiring some fans.


Positive pressure is supposed to keep particles from entering even through the intake fans, as there is so much air pressure in the case that the particles are pushed back out.

At least, that's how I think the explanation went.

So yeah, if you don't know FOR SURE what the total CFM is going in/out and you just have 1 or 2 more fans pushing air in than out, that doesn't necessarily mean there is positive pressure, as different fans of even the same sizes can blow different CFMs at different speeds. Remember that flow can be improved with design, so it doesn't matter what size or RPM it runs at.

i get that. but you cant cool a computer with pressure, only flow. as long as air is flowing into the computer, i dont see how dust wont as well....unless you have some type of air filter.

maybe my fluid dynamics is failing me :dunno:

i dont know the CFM ratings of marys desktop. i do know the CPU/intake fan is huge (well over 100mm) and the PSU/exhaust fan is tiny (maybe 60mm?).

Well there you go, this is air not fluid :thefinger:

Like I said, you can feel outward pressure if you hold you hand up to one of my intake fans.

The CPU fan is probably a 120mm fan and the exhaust fan is probably a 80mm fan.
