I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the EGR valve is located on a 2002 ford ranger 3.0L I have read the forum on another page here where someone said that egr valves were not used on the 3.0l after 2001 but I was told by the dealer that i should check my EGR valve but I can not find it or dont know were to look. If any one could help me I would greatly appreciate it thanks.

Look on one of the exhaust manifolds, I believe the drivers side, there should be a tube coming out of it going to an EGR vale. It's a round looking thing with a vacuum line coming out the top. IIRC they didn't use egr in 2002.

Allright thanks for the information. I went to the auto parts store and they show one in the system for my truck but they said it may be a mistake.

On a recent thread, RKIs determined there was NO EGR used on the 3.0 Vulcan engine, model years 2002-05.

WHAT is your engine problem, and why is a stealership recommending you check your (non-existent) EGR???

Well, I was haveing a problem between 60-75 mph mainly when the engine was laboring before kicking out of OD while going up hill it would jerk and it also started this on everyday driving also while the engine was laboring. I replaced the spark plugs, Fuel filtter, PCV valve, and also cleaned the MAF sensor and the air fillter and it has seemed to fix the problem.
