Does anyone know if the 2003 Ranger Edge has an egr valve. I want to replace my headers with the JBA headers. Also Does anyone know what would cause my truck to run lean? :icon_cheers:

Yup, I'm sure you would. Keep the egr...the JBA headers being of the quality they are, should have bungs for the 02 and egr.

As for the lean condition, many things can cause this and DTC's should be read.

Anything from false readings from the MAF, ECT, O2, etc can cause this.

I'd also check for the easy things, such as cracked or leaky vacuum lines/hoses or the intake tube.

I'm pretty sure they phased out EGR by 2003 and modified ignition timing to replace it.

To check, look at your exhaust manifolds and check to see if there is a metal tube running to either of them.

I looked up online and it shows an egr listed.....

Yes You should still have EGR and for the lean codes I would look at the MAF I get about 2 or 3 cars a week that have lean codes and its just a dirty MAF also If you have a cold air intake kit on this can make it worse.

I'm not getting any codes I can just tell when it is not running right. I have an cold air intake and it turned out to be a worn out hose that connects to the intake. I replaced it and it seems to be running alot better than it was. I will check to see if I can locate the EGR valve. Thanks for the info.
