I was driving to work last night, and suddenly my engine got loud....exhaust leak of some sort. Did some searching when I got out in the morning and found my EGR tube cracked at the manifold. It left a little nub and didn't break off completely.

For now, I'm going to do a quick fix with a piece of Asbestos Gasket stock and a hose clamp... I need the truck this week. Then, It's time to dig in for the 4th time in 2 weeks.

I swear, this truck is trying to get some kind of revenge on me... :icon_twisted:

Sorry to hear bud.

If it's on your 98 2.5 it's kind of a pain to remove as well. I usually use a HUGE crecent wrench and PB Blaster to get mine off. Good luck.

EGR tubes are stupid.

they all use huge, mostly metric hex heads and none can be reached with a straight wrench. take a look in the toolbox of any newer-vehicle technician and you'll find a selection of cut, heated, and bent large-size wrenches for just this purpous :annoyed:

+1

I had to do one on a 98 Windstar with a 3.0. Man did that suck.

Maybe the pieces of the old line could be taken to a place that manufactures metal lines...
