EGR pipe is cracked.

My EGR pipe has a 6 inch crack running down it. What kind of problems will this cause?

A vacuum leak and make the system not function right. Have you noticed a difference in the way it runs? JB weld might help you fill the crack.

The crack will lean out the air/fuel ratio when at high RPM. This will cause the engine to run hot, possibly burn a piston, possibly burn an O2 sensor(if you have one). The engine will fight to add fuel to the system, which may not burn properly.
The most likely result is lower MPG and component damage or wear.

JB Weld will work for the tube if the crack isn't near the exhaust end of the pipe. High heat doesn't let JB Weld stay in place too long. Best to find a replacement from a junk yard.

The biggest thing it will cause is noise. It may also leak in some outside air, but I think more likely it will leak exhaust gas out. There are some high temperature tapes that are available as a temporary band-aid, but the best bet is a used unit from a boneyard.
If you can't find one, a good muffler shop should be able to bend and flare some tubing to match the factory part. It doesn't have to do the bends exactly, but would need to have the flare fittings.
