would the edis cause the coil to blow up

symptoms:
tach works 1/2 the time
rear coil keeps exploding on coilpack
missing and improper shifts

could be a poor/bad ground for the poor shifts and tach...have you looked at the spark plugs and wires for any bad parts? have you had to replace the coil pack more then once? they are pretty robust but a failure on the spark plug side could take the coil pack out, so id start there.

just changed the plugs and wires right be for this and ive gone through 3 coils

motorcraft platinum plugs

The poor shifting is being caused by the misfire. The transmission is "waiting" to shift under load because throttle position is higher than what it should be. Misfire = less power = more foot on gas pedal = TCM uses different shift points to compensate for more throttle.

What do you mean by "coil pack keeps exploding"? Like actual physical damage? Is it getting hot and melting?

Have you checked the regulator on the alternator? Are you getting AC voltage?

yes it phiscaly blows a hole in the rear coil on the pack havnt had much time 2 look @ it im gunn try 2 to day

would the platinum plugs have anything to do with it some one said it could be that ?

but i thought they would be better than the copper

Perhaps you have a bad or broken plug on that cylinder.. Swap it out with another one that is known to be a good one.

update the control mod(edis) is gud but the wires that go 2 it the red one that loops 2 itself has a few wires showing could this be it? i plan on fixn it any ways but im down 2 my last 2 coils so i dont wanna blow them up

blows a hole in the rear coil almost instantly will do it with key on engine off
and smokes like some one threw water on hell when it blow

ok the pink wire on the edis was grounding out taped it up put on the new coil and it doesnt blow up the coil but now it misses like crazy

and i blew the coil up 2 day so i must still have a short some where im goin 2 change the plugs 2 morrow and start pulling my harness sat and looking it over
