will a 2001 Edge Hood work on a 1997 Ranger , i know that the 98-00 hood wont because of the raised portion in the front for the grille , but the 01-03 hoods are flat along the bottom of the front correct ? thanks for the input

Not sure... I'll have to go look at mine... I do know that the newer style hoods are fiberglass and considerably heavier than the aluminum hoods on the 98-00 Rangers...
