Edge Grill Build.

Well, I found an alternative to the Edge Grill and possibly hacking up my existing Grill bezel. Literally right outside my house, on the street, there was an Escape Grill insert, just laying there. A very quick dry fit gave me hope that it might work. I will get pics and more tomorrow or whenever the rain eases up.

The Escape insert ain't gonna work. Too small in several different directions so back to the original plan. Heh I was hoping it would work so I didn't have to cut my Grill. ?

Not much to report. Getting ready to cut away but was wondering what I should use. I have a rotary tool , die grinder and several other ways to cut. Is there a specific tool or wheel or anything to use. Does anybody know how this stuff reacts to being cut. Does it chip, Crack or melt. Any input will help me get some progress on this thing.

I would keep using the Dremel. It may take longer but it's a lot less stressful on the plastic. You want to use fine tooth saw blades for this as well or a mini cutoff wheel on the Dremel. Keep posting pics. Doesn't look like anyone else is looking but I've been watching this build.

Seems like you are the only one, but I will keep posting. If nothing else, this is a practice build thread for future projects. Yard work kept me from doing too much this weekend, but I have a week off next week, I should be able to report with pics and progress.

I have all of next week off for my kids spring break so expect some progress photos soon...

Just got a pack of cutting wheels for my High speed rotary tool ;). 'Bout to go out back and get to cuttin'?‍??

Every thing was going good. Took a little off, then did a dry fit. Took a little more way. I must have got in on a bad angle, because when I was done, I had this :poop:.

Whaaa whaa wha. EPIC FAIL?

So I went to the JY looking for another grill. I was lucky enough to find a silver Edge with said grill intact. I am now pretty much an expert at popping the grills apart without breaking ANY plastic tabs. (woohoo:yahoo:). There was another edge there, it was white, would have been perfect, but the grill was already worse for ware, BUT it did have the clear turn signal housing and newer style (06?) tail light housing.

The driver side of the grill, the part that fits under the headlight, had a small crack and was busted up a little. I used an epoxy to fill the small cracks and used a paint stir stick from Home Depot to strengthen it up some. smeared epoxy all over the wooden piece( cut to about 2") and used squeeze clamps over night to hold it in place. I may do the other side just for added protection. If you take this piece off a lot, you might want to think about doing this. I will try to get a pic of that and post it later.

Top: cracked area of the grill.
Bottom: Previous owner used some kind of foam to hold it together. I scraped that off and rubbed epoxy into the cracks and used a paint stir stick for reinforcement.
