So, I tried getting the codes off of my 94 exploder today, and it wont even go into that mode, and I know I connected the correct jumper wire. So i'm wondering if the ECM is messed up, it runs kinda rough, and the 3-4 shift solenoid and the torque converter do not work. Plus it has some various other electrical issues that I cannot figure out, and the ECM would explain all of it.

So, I called the local salvage yards, and none of them have an ECM, and one of them said that there are 4 different ECM's listed for my 94 explorer?

So, does this sound like an ECM issue? And are there 4 different ECM's for my truck? IT's a 94 exploder with an auto trans. 4.0 ofcoarse and 4wd.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, first things first, always trace the wiring. My sister's Taurus had a diagnostics connector which got chewed up in the accessory belt and only had two wires left connected on it (thankfully, one of the wires was the one I needed).

As for the ECMs, Car-Part shows 6 different, based on combos of:

AT Code 1/AT Code 2/MT
Fed/Cali Emissions

Go to car-part.com and figure out which one you have, if you decide to replace.

Hey, Thanks locovaca, the one I have, is the one I am suppose to have.

But, am still not sure if it's bad or not.

Ok, so got a new (to me) ECM, and the check engine light turned off, she runs a bit smoother, but still wont shift the 3-4 solenoid, or the TC lockup.

Are the ECM's suppose to be grounded? if so, where does the ground wire connect at on the ECM? Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh, and the solenoids do work, 'cause I hooked them up to switches, and can manually shift it. So, I know they function.
