Hey I have an 85 b2 that I did a 2.3 swap and duraspark on. I know this is the 2.8 forum but you guys are always talking about duraspark. It ran good for about a month. Then i went to start it and no spark. I did leave the ignition in the on position as it doesn't take a key it's easy to forget to push the button on the column in to take it to the lock position. I checked all of my connections and grounds they all test ok. I changed out to my spare ignition and got a weak spark at the end the coil wire to the distributor. Didn't sound like the engine was firing though. I checked my cap/rotor and fried my other module, ignition in the on position. Is this normal? I have never had to put something in acc. or off like that. Any help would be apreciated.

If I were checking this on my truck,I would check all wires as you did, then check coil resistance with wire plug unplugged, should be around 1.7 ohms.

See if you have the resister in the circuit as well and if it is ok.It would drive me nuts not to have a key,I would change-out the Ignition switch pronto,it may also be the problem, may not be passing enough voltage to the circuit in the run position.Just my 2 pennies.Good luck, and let us know.
