There is also the D61 rear end. I know nothing about them except that they are same thing as a D60 with 1 or more differences and only came in the vans. I know the half ton vans have (or at least had) 8.8's.

Pathfinder is in fact a company that does the conversions. In the 80's my dad worked in the Colorado oil fields, and had a company E-350 that was a pathfinder conversion. I don't know if it used Twin I beam or a solid axle. I saw their website awhile back..they do ambulance chassis conversions and such.
